Registering a Domain

Submitted by on January 3, 2007 – 12:52 amNo Comment

I was asked by a reader “How do I register a domain”

Well all registrars make it easy by simple steps that you can follow. So I decided to give you a small list of registrars (Only 15!!) I’d recommend for you people new to all of this.

1- Namecheap is very easy to use and also supports paypal. Their prices for .com are considerably cheap with $8.88. There admin panel is exrenley easy to use and their support is excellent.

2- Godaddy is the registrar where you can regsiter the biggest range of extensions for considerably less. Their prices for .com domains is $8.95. However their administrative panel is very hard to get the hang of as its not the standard so personally I found it hard to get my head round and took a couple of days.

3- Dynadot is for those from countries who can’t pay via Paypal, as they accept Moneybookers. For .com domains they have the cheapest prices of around $7.99. They are cheap, the admin panel is very easy, simple and straight forward to use

4- NamesPro.ca

NamesPro is a popular 100% Canadian domain name registrar. Register a .ca (Canada) domain at a very reasonable annual price!

5- DomainSite.com DomainSite offers low domain name prices and excellent service; including an easy to use domain management system, and really easy domain name “pushes.”

6- TargetDomain.com One of the biggest WWD domain registration & reseller services. All accounts feature free email, forwards, masking, total NS & MX control, parking and much, much more. Not cheap, affordable – BIG difference.

7- Register.com Register.com is a large “full-service” domain registrar, with services ranging from multiple domain extension registration to web hosting to website design and promotion.

8- DomainPeople.com DomainPeople.com is a comprehensive full-service domain name management company! From domain registration; to domain reseller opportunities and more!

9- 4Domains 4Domains.com is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar. 4Domains also offers web hosting, SEO and domain auction services, and more.

10- Fabulous.com Fabulous.com is a domain registrar who also specializes in domain name parking & monetization! Big domain portfolios always welcomed.

11- Dotster.com Dotster is a popular “full-service” domain registration company. Check out Dotster’s “domain suggestion feature,” which automatically kicks-in when a domain name search is performed.

12-  WebNames.ca WebNames is a popular Canadian-based domain registrar. One of the early .ca domain pioneers, WebNames is a full-service domain registrar!

13-  euroDNS.com euroDNS is a leading European domain name registrar. Featuring both “restricted” and “un-restricted” European domain TLDs.

14-  Yahoo! Domains The most popular Internet portal in the world now offers low cost domain name registrations and affordable web hosting services. Starting at around $9.99 a year per domain.

15-  Moniker.com Moniker is a leading provider of domain name registration, management, and monetization services for individuals and businesses that wish to have a unique address and branded identity on the Internet.

Backorders are something that you do if there is a domain you like and you wish to get it as soon as it expires. It usually costs a bit more than registering a new domain but is sometimes worth it. Also I must stress that it doesn’t always work. You won’t lose the money but you will lose the bid on that domain. You will not get a refund but will have to use it on another domain.

I hope that this clears us some issues with my readers and gives them some useful advice.
